Although LAFC signed Giroud on a free transfer at the end of April, he only officially joined the team on August 1 after playing for France in the European Championship.

“Giroud is available tomorrow and he’s a great player, he’s a good addition to the team,” Cherundolo said. “Obviously, it’s easier for me to talk to him because I know him very well and he’ll bring his personality, leadership and experience.”

“I still believe that he’s here to continue winning, that’s the type of guy he is and he’s going to help this young team continue to grow. On a personal level, this will be a very good experience in our careers and we didn’t expect to share this last experience together.”

Giroud has played for 18 years in top-tier professional leagues, including Ligue 1, Premier League and Serie A, including the last four seasons at AC Milan, scoring 285 goals in 716 club appearances.
