After Chelsea lost 1-4 to Scottish giants Celtic in a friendly match early this morning, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers, also the former Leicester manager, spoke about his view on Chelsea’s current situation.
Rodgers said: “I was surprised that Pochettino left because you could see what he was trying to do towards the end of the season, and the players were starting to understand what he wanted. I was disappointed that he couldn’t continue.”
“Enzo Maresca did a very, very good job at Leicester, but Chelsea is going to be a completely different challenge for him. The expectation at Chelsea is always going to be high – to be one of the most successful clubs in the world.”
“They have got some really good players, and I am sure he can make a success here. But getting the players to understand and buy into your way is always a challenge, and it’s the first thing you have to do.”
