Beijing Youth Daily: Qingdao expected to host China’s home match against Indonesia on October 15

It is understood that a total of 4-5 cities have expressed their intention to host the match against Indonesia on October 15th, the fourth round of the 18th round of qualifiers. The Chinese Football Association, in choosing the venue, favors hosting the match in a professional stadium with excellent field conditions, suitable climate, convenient transportation and guaranteed attendance. Therefore, Qingdao, with its modern professional facilities, excellent grass and climate conditions, has become the main candidate city.

Currently, Qingdao has two Chinese Super League clubs, Qingdao Hainiu and Qingdao West Coast, with Qingdao Hainiu’s home stadium, Youth Stadium, being a modern professional football stadium that was just completed in 2023. The stadium has a capacity of 53,000 spectators, and the stadium and its surrounding area also have as many as 11 high-quality natural grass pitches, which can meet the requirements of the national team’s matches and training in all aspects.

In addition, as one of China’s famous tourist cities, Qingdao has rich resources in terms of hosting large events and high-quality hotels, and also has international flights to cities such as Sydney. This means that the national team can come to Qingdao for training before the third round away match against Australia, then fly directly to Australia for the match, and then fly back to Qingdao after the match to prepare for the match against Indonesia.

Before that, Qingdao had also applied to host the national team’s home match against Thailand in the 36th round of qualifiers in June this year. Although it did not succeed then, Qingdao has always had a strong desire to host national team matches.
