Benfica president Rui Costa has spoken about the future of star player, Neves, confirming that big clubs including Manchester United, Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain have all made offers for him, but the club will not insist on the €120 million release clause.
The 19-year-old Neves is a future star of Portuguese football. In the 2023-24 season, Neves made 55 appearances for Benfica, scoring 3 goals and providing 2 assists, also playing in the 2024 European Championship with the Portuguese team. Paris Saint-Germain are willing to offer €70 million for Neves, while Manchester United and Arsenal are also interested in him. Neves’ release clause is a staggering €120 million.
Benfica club president Costa said: “I never said we would only sell Neves if the release clause was triggered, we have a specific evaluation plan for him. For now, Neves is still a Benfica player, I don’t want to hide anything about his situation, I know the fans are very concerned. The situation regarding Neves’ transfer is still under negotiation, please allow me to reserve my comments for now, to think about what is the best solution for the team.”
