The Mexican national team has appointed Javier Aguirre as its new head coach; Rafael Márquez will serve as assistant coach.
“The 2030 plan is the path to achieving our medium and long-term goals: first, consolidating the best version of the national team in 2026, while laying a solid foundation for the future,” said executive president Ivar Sisniega. Aguirre meets the Mexican Football Federation’s requirements for the coaching position:
Professionalism and national and international experience
Knowledge of methodology and work style that allows him to adapt to the image of Mexican footballers
Maturity and strength to deal with high-pressure environments both on and off the field
Proven leadership, which will lead to excellent team management
