According to Hurst Pierpoint FC, former England international and Manchester City player Gareth Barry has joined the club and will play for them in the 11th tier league in the new season.

We are delighted to announce the signing of former England International and Premier League appearance record holder, Gareth Barry.
Gareth Barry has long standing connections to the village through his good friend and our manager, Michael Standing. So involving him with the football club seemed like an obvious choice.
His training quality has been incredible, so we are all very excited to see him pull on the shirt later in the season and grace the Fairfield turf. Welcome to Hurstpierpoint, Gareth!
Barry is 43 years old and announced his retirement in August 2020, now four years later he is back in the football world. Barry came through the Brighton youth system and played for Aston Villa, Manchester City, Everton and West Bromwich Albion.
