Official: Canada women’s soccer head coach removed from team due to drone incident

On July 26, the Canadian Olympic Committee announced that Olympic women’s soccer head coach Bev Priestman has been removed from the team following a drone incident.

The Canadian Olympic Committee said in a statement that after receiving further information relating to the incident, they have decided to suspend Priestman pending the outcome of an independent investigation. Canada’s next match will be led by assistant coach Andy Spencer.

Canada defeated New Zealand 2-1 in their opening group game. They face hosts France in their second group game.
