Another European Champion! Spain U19 Team Beats France to Win First Ever European U19 Championship

On July 28th, local time, the Spanish U19 national team beat France 2-0 in the final to win the European U19 Championship. This is Spain’s ninth time winning the tournament, once again establishing them as the dominant force in Europe at this age level.

After the senior national team won the European Championship, the Spanish youth team has once again become European champions. The Spanish U19 team’s achievements are also ahead of their competitors. Their last European U19 title came in 2019, and five years later, they are back on top.

From the outset, Spain tried to control possession, but as the game progressed, the two teams were evenly matched. Just before halftime, Iker Bravo broke the deadlock. The Spanish forward took advantage of David Mella’s pass and put the ball in the net at the perfect moment, giving Spain the lead.

In the second half, France controlled possession, but Spain was very composed, playing as a united team and not giving the French any opportunities, limiting their attacks. France did create some chances, but they were unable to find the back of the net. Mid-way through the second half, France suffered a fatal blow. In the 69th minute, Assane Diop, who had only been on the field for a minute, broke into the penalty area and helped Spain extend their lead.

The second goal completely disrupted France’s rhythm, and in the end, Spain won 2-0.

It is worth mentioning that if we include the previous versions of the European U19 Championship, like the FIFA Youth Championship, Spain has won 12 times, making them the most successful team at this age level.
