On July 31st, the 2024/25 season of the 2. Bundesliga is about to begin, with Hamburg facing relegated side Cologne in the first round. Before the match, head coach Tim Walter attended a press conference.
When asked about his goals for the new season, Walter said: “In the 2. Bundesliga, promotion is the only goal, there’s no question about it. We had the same goal in the past few seasons, but unfortunately, we failed to achieve it. This season will be the same, promotion requires action, not just words.”
Regarding the team’s preparation during the offseason, Walter said: “We are well prepared, even though our performance in the warm-up matches wasn’t outstanding, it wasn’t bad either. The players have performed well in training camp, and we are excited to start the new season.”
The team will play their opening match away against Cologne. Walter said frankly: “This is a special match because I had a wonderful time in Cologne. But now I’m the coach of Hamburg, and we need to be at our best when we go away. It will be an exciting game.”
