On August 1st, Dalian Kuncheng, a team in China’s League Two, announced that Zhou Lin has joined the club’s coaching staff as head coach. The former head coach, Zhao Faqing, will be promoted to the club’s general coach.
Official announcement from Dalian Kuncheng Football Club:
Through friendly negotiations, we have invited Zhou Lin to join the Dalian Kuncheng Football Club coaching staff as head coach, effective immediately.
Zhou Lin was born in Tianjin in 1981 and played as a defender during his playing career. He played for teams such as Vanguard Huandao, Chongqing Lifan, Guangzhou Pharmaceutical, and Guangzhou Evergrande, and was selected for various levels of the Chinese national team. He, along with Zhang Yaokun, Qu Bo, and other members of the 1981 generation, was known as the “Super Golden Generation” of Chinese football. After retiring, Zhou Lin transitioned to coaching and took charge of Shijiazhuang Kung Fu in June 2023, leading the team to a third-place finish in the China League One with a record of 12 wins, 6 draws, and 2 losses in 20 matches.
With the arrival of Coach Zhou Lin, Zhao Faqing, the team’s former head coach, will be promoted to the position of general coach of Dalian Kuncheng Football Club. Coach Zhao Faqing took on the role of head coach of Dalian Kuncheng at the beginning of this season, and despite the rushed preparations, he took on the challenge and led the team to third place in the northern division of the China League Two preliminary round, successfully advancing to the promotion group. We look forward to the two coaches working together to help the team continue to strive for success in the China League Two promotion group matches this season.
