According to reports from the Beijing Youth Daily, the Chinese national team recently submitted a preliminary 52-man roster to the AFC for the Asian Cup Qualifiers. Wei Shihao is included in the list, but naturalized player Hou Yongyong did not make the cut. Players like Yang Liyu, Jian Tao, and Han Jiaqi, who have been performing well in the Chinese Super League recently, are also on the list.
As per the AFC’s requirements, all participating teams in the Asian Cup Qualifiers need to submit a larger roster by August 5th, with no limit on the number of players. Hence, the Chinese Football Association submitted a 52-man roster to the AFC.
The main focus of the 52-man roster lies in whether Wei Shihao and Hou Yongyong will make the final cut. The Beijing Youth Daily reports that although he was suspended by the Chinese Football Association in the Chinese Super League, Wei Shihao is still included in the list, but Hou Yongyong, who has been performing well in the Norwegian League recently, has not made the roster.
Furthermore, the roster includes players like Han Jiaqi, Hu Hetao, Cao Yongjing, Jian Tao, and Yang Liyu. Overseas player Wu Shaocong is also not included in the list. Naturalized players playing in the Chinese Super League, including Alan, Fernando, and Jiang Guangtai, are all included in the 52-man roster.
It is understood that the national team will announce the training roster for the two matches in September of the Asian Cup Qualifiers around August 17th, with an expected number of around 28 players. Whether Wei Shihao, whose form has been affected by the suspension, will be able to participate in the first two rounds of the Asian Cup Qualifiers will be revealed at that time.
