TA: USSF in talks with Pochettino for USMNT job

Former Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly the leading candidate to take over as manager of the United States men’s national team.

The Athletic’s Paul Tenorio says the U.S. Soccer Federation has reached out to Pochettino, who is currently the top target for the USMNT job.

Sources say the USSF is considering multiple candidates, but some believe Pochettino is the best fit for the job. Reports had previously linked Pochettino to the England job, with the FA also showing interest in the Argentinian manager.

The United States will co-host the 2026 World Cup, while England are seen as one of the favorites to win the tournament. The USMNT sacked Gregg Berhalter after they failed to advance from the group stage at the 2024 Copa América, while Southgate resigned as England manager after their defeat in the 2024 European Championship final.
