Japanese Media: Two Women Who Counter-Accused Junya Ito Will Not Be Indicted Due to Insufficient Evidence

August 9, according to Japanese media outlet Yahoo!, the Osaka District Public Prosecutors Office announced that neither Junya Ito nor the two women will be indicted, as both allegations were deemed insufficient.

In January, former Japanese national football player Junya Ito was accused of sexual assault by two women in Tokyo. They stated, “Last June, at a hotel in Osaka, Junya Ito got us drunk and sexually assaulted me while I was unable to move.” The Osaka Prefecture Police filed a criminal complaint against him based on this.

Ito’s side refuted these claims, calling them baseless. In addition to filing a lawsuit seeking compensation for damages, he also filed “counter-charges” against the two women suspected of falsely accusing him. Last month, the Osaka Prefecture Police had referred both Ito and the two women to the prosecutors. However, the Osaka District Public Prosecutors Office announced that neither Ito nor the two women would be indicted. The Osaka District Public Prosecutors Office ruled that both allegations were insufficient.
