Recently, German superstar Toni Kroos, who just ended his professional career, gave an interview to the magazine “Kicker”. In the interview, Kroos said he has received many invitations to become a TV commentator, but he is not ready to comment on players on the TV screen.
Kroos answered the question about becoming a commentator with a very cautious attitude, saying: “Many channels have invited me, but I haven’t considered any of the job offers. Because I just finished my career as a player, the feeling of the field is still fresh. I don’t think I’m the typical expert, I don’t want to stand on stage and discuss this and evaluate that. I’m interested in the job of being a commentator because this position is only about the game, it doesn’t cause any controversy, there’s no need to analyze transfer rumors, don’t discuss coach issues, just analyze the game, which is perfect for me.”
Kroos also explained the reason why he couldn’t win major personal awards like the Ballon d’Or during his playing career: “This is not the award I am pursuing, but that doesn’t mean I am not close to it. Players who can win the Ballon d’Or and World Footballer of the Year always have similar images, although my image doesn’t match the award, but there are often winners in the teams I play for – Ronaldo, Modric, Benzema. I helped them reach the top, as for me, if the German team won the European Championship, I think I would have a chance.”
