On the evening of August 7th, UEFA officially announced that Rodri and Morata would be banned for one game for breaching UEFA disciplinary rules.
After Spain’s 2-1 victory over England in the European Championship, Morata and Rodri sang “Gibraltar is Spanish” during the celebrations upon their return to Spain, drawing complaints from the Gibraltar Football Association.
UEFA’s punishment was based on the reason that Rodri and Morata failed to abide by the code of conduct, violated basic rules of good behavior, used sporting events for non-sporting purposes, and damaged the reputation of football and UEFA in particular.
