On August 8, according to Football News, the first meeting of the Dalian Football Management Center was held, with Sun Jihai expressing concern about the difficulties faced by youth training players in pursuing their education.
Yesterday, the Dalian Football Management Center, established under the guidance of the Dalian Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, with the Dalian Sports Bureau as the leader, held its first meeting at the Dalian People’s Base. The meeting invited representatives from all youth training institutions in Dalian for discussions, listening to voices from the grassroots. Wang Suolong, who served as the technical director of the Dalian People’s Club and was responsible for youth training, and who is also a registered coach instructor for the Chinese Football Association, chaired the meeting as a representative of the Football Management Center. Among the many participating representatives, Sun Jihai’s appearance caused a small stir.
In his representative speech, Sun Jihai hoped that the Football Management Center could further pay attention to and resolve the issue of youth training players’ education, known as the “12-year-old retirement” problem. In this regard, Jinpu New District has taken the lead in establishing football experimental classes, providing a consistent system from elementary to high school. This model should be promoted and popularized in other schools within the city. Sun Jihai repeatedly emphasized that only by addressing the concerns of parents will they feel comfortable and confident in letting their children practice football.
Furthermore, representatives from some youth training institutions raised the difficulty in hiring coaches. They are currently facing the transition from 8-player to 11-player formations, as well as a change in the size of the game balls used, but are unsure where to find suitable coaches or when to make the change in footballs. The meeting lasted about an hour and a half, with representatives actively sharing their thoughts and raising valuable suggestions from the frontline. Some of these suggestions, such as those requiring government-led action, need to be addressed by government departments.
