August 5, according to renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher has agreed to join Atletico Madrid, with the transfer expected to be completed soon.
Reports suggest that Gallagher has already reached a verbal agreement with Atletico Madrid over a move, with a formal agreement expected to be finalized today, soon entering the “here we go” stage.
Atletico Madrid will pay Chelsea €40 million for Gallagher’s transfer, and will subsequently sign the English midfielder to a five-year contract.
Gallagher, 24, is a Chelsea youth academy graduate who can play in multiple positions in midfield. Previously, he was loaned out to Charlton, Swansea, West Bromwich Albion, and Crystal Palace to gain experience, before establishing himself in the Chelsea first team in the 2022-23 season. Last season, he made 50 appearances for the Blues in all competitions, contributing 7 goals and 9 assists.
