Ole: Inter Miami Still Has a Chance to Participate in the Club World Cup as the Host Team Despite Being Eliminated from the Leagues Cup

According to Ole, despite being eliminated from the Leagues Cup in the quarterfinals by Monterrey, losing their direct qualification to the 2025 Club World Cup, Inter Miami still has a chance to participate in the tournament as the US host team.

Currently, 30 teams have been confirmed for the 2025 Club World Cup, with two slots still to be determined: the 2024 Copa Libertadores champion and the host team. However, the US has yet to decide which team will represent them. The US is considering several options, the most important of which is to allow the 2024 MLS champion to participate. Currently, Inter Miami is in a strong position to qualify for the Club World Cup through this route based on their current MLS standings.

Even if Inter Miami fails to win the league title, the US may still grant them this slot. This is because the host team’s spot is the only slot that is not based on performance. Additionally, Ole reports that FIFA would be delighted to have Messi’s Inter Miami compete in the newly revamped Club World Cup.
