On the evening of August 13th, China U19 faced Iran U19 in their second friendly match, with the Chinese youngsters ultimately falling 0-2 to their opponents. After the game, China U19 head coach Jurčević told the media that although they lost the match, it helped the team define themselves.
Jurčević said: “We played two consecutive matches against a very strong opponent. In the previous game, we scored early on; while today, the opponent scored right at the beginning, which created a lot of difficulties for us, all our plans were disrupted, and we had to change our pre-match strategy early on. This is actually good for us, as it helps us better understand our positioning, especially in games against such strong teams.”
“We have used these 10 days and these two games to assess some new players, to see their quality, and to see if they meet the requirements of our team. Some of them may come back in the next round, while some may not.”
