On August 23rd, American full-back Dest spoke to ESPN about Pochettino and other topics.
Speaking on his ACL tear
Dest: “My goal is to recover by the end of January, but I have to take it step by step, if the recovery isn’t looking good I’ll have to wait. I have to make sure my knee is fully recovered before I can play again because this is a serious injury.”
On Pochettino potentially coaching the USA
Dest: “Yes, I’m excited about it, everyone else is waiting for him to officially take over. Obviously he is a great coach and a big name, it would be great to train under him.”
On Pochettino being good at developing players
Dest: “Yes, that’s one of his strengths, we’ll just have to wait and see, hopefully he can help all of us.”
On the 2026 World Cup
Dest: “It’s our home turf, we have to do well, you know? It’s very important. But we have to take things one step at a time, Pochettino isn’t here yet.”
