A shooting incident took place outside the stadium before the Argentine Cup Round of 16 match between Argentinos Juniors and Huracán, leaving one man with a gunshot wound to the leg who was taken to the hospital for treatment.
According to TyC Sports, the injured individual was transported by a private car, bypassing the closer Avellaneda hospital and going directly to the capital’s Hospital de Clínicas. This is believed to be linked to the man’s criminal record.
Two versions of the cause of the shooting are circulating. One claims that it was related to a conflict between rival factions, “El Publito” and “Plaza España,” known to have tense relations for a while, possibly culminating in today’s incident.
Witnesses reported hearing six shots fired after the incident. While no arrests have been made yet according to police, law enforcement officials stated that there are surveillance cameras in the area and they will be used to identify those involved in the incident.
