This is a celebration for Atletico fans, Atlético Madrid strengthened their midfield without weakening their attacking line and made a small but significant profit on the deal.

For Chelsea, this is a baffling deal. In 2023, Felix was loaned to Chelsea, he played 20 times for the Blues, scoring only 4 goals, and they considered Felix not good enough and didn’t buy him out.
Now, they are having second thoughts and signing the Portuguese star, which is really puzzling.
Felix Rating: F
For Felix, this is a bad decision, but he really has no better options in Europe, other big clubs are unwilling to pay for him.
Perhaps Felix will find a way to thrive in the chaos at Chelsea, but for a young man, what he needs most is stability, not uncertainty about the future.
Gallagher joins Atletico
Chelsea Rating: F
Gallagher was one of Chelsea’s best players, but the Blues traded him for Atlético’s worst signing ever, Felix.
Gallagher’s interceptions are excellent, he led the team in winning the ball (221 times) last season, and he is Chelsea’s undisputed midfield general. His talent and adaptability are far superior to others.

For Atlético, this is an intriguing signing, the England international is likely to fit into Simeone’s system. He’s the kind of midfielder Simeone likes, he’s good at pressing, he runs well, he’s a complete midfielder.
Not only that, Atletico also managed to sell Felix while getting Gallagher, this is a smart deal.
Gallagher Rating: B+
Obviously, Gallagher himself would have preferred to stay at Chelsea, as he had been with the club since the age of 8. This is a painful and long farewell.
However, Gallagher should like playing for Simeone, as Simeone likes this kind of all-around midfielder and knows how to coach this kind of all-around midfielder. Maybe one day, Gallagher will realize that leaving Chelsea was a wonderful decision.
