According to The New York Times reporter Tariq Panja, Beerschot, a Belgian club owned by a Saudi prince, is about to leverage its connections to bring a group of talented young Saudi players to the club for European football experience.
Tariq Panja wrote on social media: “Some of the best young Saudi players are set to be sent to Beerschot in Belgium, the club, like Sheffield United, is owned by the same Saudi Prince. Apparently, Saudi Pro League executives are frustrated that they were hoping to make this deal at the start of the transfer window.”
Beerschot’s predecessor went bankrupt in 2013. After its rebirth, the club returned to the Belgian First Division A in the 20/21 season. In 2022, Beerschot was relegated to the Belgian First Division B, but then returned to the top tier in two seasons. After four rounds this season, the team has one draw and three losses, with one point, placing them second to last in the Belgian First Division A table.
