On August 14th, official sources announced that Brozovic has retired from the Croatian national team.
Brozovic, 32 years old, made his national team debut in 2014 and has played 99 times for Croatia, scoring 7 goals and providing 7 assists.
Brozovic wrote in his farewell letter:
I always gave 100% effort, energy, strength and passion for Croatia. It is a standard set by many great players before me, a standard that our generation has strived for and that every player after must aspire to.
I feel that I have experienced and achieved everything I could hope for in Croatia, and it is time to let new forces give their 100%, because when you play for Croatia, only giving your all is enough.
It is impossible to thank everyone in such a letter, because success in football requires many great people around you, from coaches to teammates, from doctors to therapists, equipment managers and everyone else.
And in the Croatian national team, they are all the best.
