On August 21, it was officially announced that Takeshi Ikeda would no longer serve as the head coach of the Japan Women’s National Team.
In the recent Paris Olympics, Ikeda led the Japanese women’s team to three consecutive wins in the group stage, but they were eliminated in the first round of the knockout stage by the US women’s team.
Ikeda previously coached Urawa Red Diamonds, and served as the head coach of Japan’s U19 women’s team in 2017. He began coaching the senior team in 2021.
