James Rodríguez terminated his contract with Brazilian side São Paulo prematurely after the Copa América, and is currently a free agent.
Rumours emerged that James could join Argentinian club River Plate on a free transfer this summer, but the club’s president has denied the reports: “Will James join River Plate? I can say it’s impossible, he will not come to River Plate.” River Plate manager Marcelo Gallardo later echoed the sentiment, stating: “James will not join River Plate.”
The 33-year-old James Rodríguez is looking to return to Europe, and is reportedly in contact with Spanish sides Real Betis and Celta Vigo, as well as German club Bayer Leverkusen.
