On August 15, Spanish journalist Mercado reported that Atletico Madrid had reached an agreement with Gallagher for Felix.
He wrote on social media: “Atletico Madrid and Chelsea have agreed on a deal for Joao Felix (24 years old) to join Stamford Bridge this summer transfer window for £38.5 million (€45 million).”

Felix is 24 years old and was loaned from Atletico Madrid to Chelsea in January 2023. In his half season with Chelsea, Felix made 20 appearances for the team and scored 4 goals, but after the loan period ended, Chelsea had no intention of buying Felix outright.
