Saudi Pro League club Jeddah Union has officially announced that manager Marcelo Gallardo has been sacked.
The 48-year-old Argentine coach took over Jeddah Union in November 2023, managing 33 games with a record of 15 wins, 4 draws and 14 losses. Last season in the Saudi Pro League, Jeddah Union finished only fifth, missing out on the new season’s Asian elite league.
It is reported that the conflict between Gallardo and the team’s core player Karim Benzema was the catalyst for his sacking. Jeddah Union has already begun the search for a new manager, with former AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli and Fulham manager Marco Silva among the candidates.
