Brazilian Serie A side Botafogo have officially announced the signing of former Argentine champion midfielder Thiago Almada, who has signed a contract with the club until June 2029. It is understood that he will join Lyon in Ligue 1 next January.
The midfielder, who previously played for MLS, was part of the Argentina squad that won the World Cup in Qatar in 2022. He is still the captain of the Argentina U23 national team and will be participating in this summer’s Paris Olympics. He therefore missed this year’s Copa América.
