According to British media outlet The Record, Scottish giants Celtic are interested in signing Danish goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.
Despite being 37 years old, Schmeichel remains in excellent form. This summer, he played for Denmark in the European Championship, starting all four games and helping his team qualify from the group stage. At club level, Schmeichel played for Anderlecht in the Belgian First Division A last season and is now a free agent after his contract expired this summer.
After the departure of Celtic goalkeeper Joe Hart, who retired at the end of last season, the club is looking for a new goalkeeper. Considering Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers’ positive experience working with Schmeichel at Leicester City, the team is hoping to sign the experienced keeper.
Reports suggest that Celtic has offered Schmeichel a one-year contract, and a deal could be announced soon.
