According to journalist Cheng Wenli, Shenzhen has indeed put forward a bid to host the U20 Asian Cup and the China national team’s 18th round of World Cup Qualifiers.
The report states that although Shenzhen has expressed its interest, it does not necessarily mean that the events will be held in Shenzhen. The process and final confirmation are still needed.
If Shenzhen wins the right to host the U20 Asian Cup, the Shenzhen Football Association’s Guangming Base new stadium and Xixiang Sports Center are expected to host the matches.
Cheng Wenli revealed that, in addition to the U20 Asian Cup, Shenzhen has also applied to host the China national team’s 18th round of World Cup Qualifiers home games, such as the match against Japan in November or the match against Australia next March.
