In the first half, Kubo Takefusa opened the scoring for FC Cincinnati. However, just 10 minutes later, Inter Miami equalized through a corner kick by Creavalle. But before the half-time whistle, Inter Miami fell apart, conceding three goals in quick succession, leaving them trailing 1-4 at the break.
In the second half, Busquets received two yellow cards in quick succession for dissent and was sent off, leaving Miami playing with one man down. They were unable to cope and conceded another two goals, ultimately losing 1-6.
This was the biggest defeat Inter Miami has suffered in a competitive match since the club was founded. They had previously lost 0-6 to Barcelona and Al Nassr in friendly matches.
