Today, the Korea Football Association officially announced that current Ulsan Hyundai head coach Hong Myung-bo has been officially appointed as the manager of the South Korean national team.
Tomorrow morning at 10 am, the Korea Football Association will hold a press conference to officially announce Hong Myung-bo’s appointment.
Hong Myung-bo, 55, was a renowned South Korean national team player during his playing days and participated in the 2002 FIFA World Cup held in Korea and Japan. After retiring, he coached South Korea’s youth teams at various levels and led the national team at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
Over the past four seasons, Hong Myung-bo has coached Ulsan Hyundai in the K League and led them to consecutive K League titles in the last two seasons. He was also named the K League Coach of the Year in 2022.
In the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers Round of 16, which begins in September, Hong Myung-bo will make his return to the South Korean national team, with the team facing Palestine in the first match at home.
