Pedro: A thorn in my heart for leaving Barcelona one goal shy of 100

July 12, according to reports in Marca, former Barcelona player and current Lazio star Pedro recently spoke about his former club.

Pedro Rodríguez, who played for Barcelona from 2009 to 2015, explained his departure from the club to Gerard Romero.

Pedro reminisced about his successful time at Barcelona, stating, “It was an incredible time for me. Playing alongside Messi, Xavi, Andrés (Iniesta)… They made it possible for me to score in all the games. I was lucky enough to experience so many unique moments in my career.”

“However, I was one goal short of 100 for Barcelona. Leaving without finishing that story left a thorn in my heart,” Pedro admitted.

Pedro added, “Leaving Barcelona was difficult because it was the club of my life, where I had spent many years. I scored 99 goals for Barcelona. When Xavi became manager, I told him that I wanted to take the next penalty so that I could reach 100 goals before leaving.”

The Spanish player joined Barcelona’s U19 team at the age of 17 from Tenerife. In 2015, he joined Chelsea. He helped Barcelona win 23 trophies, including 3 Champions League titles, 3 European Super Cup titles, and 5 La Liga titles.
