June 23 – According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Chelsea have held talks with Lille striker Jonathan David’s agent in recent days regarding a potential transfer this summer.
The 24-year-old Canadian international is one of a number of options for the Stamford Bridge club as they look to bolster their attacking options ahead of next season. With David’s contract set to expire in 12 months, Lille president Olivier Letang recently publicly backed a move in the current market, and the forward is expected to be available for a reasonable price.
Since joining Lille in 2020, he has scored 84 goals in 183 appearances, making him the third highest goalscorer in Lille’s history. He has been a regular starter and has only missed three games in his four seasons at the club. He was also a key player in Lille’s Ligue 1 and Coupe de France triumphs in 2021. Currently valued at €50 million by Transfermarkt.
