According to Sky Germany’s leading reporter, Florian Plettenberg, Chelsea have a concrete and strong interest in Hoffenheim attacker Maximilian Bayer, who is currently playing for Germany at the European Championship.
Bayer, 21, can play as a striker and on both wings, and his pace is one of his biggest weapons. Last season, Bayer made 35 appearances for Hoffenheim in all competitions, scoring 16 goals.
Plettenberg reports that Chelsea have been gathering information on Bayer recently and are interested in signing the player this summer. Bayer’s contract reportedly includes a release clause of €30 million.
The report concludes that Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen and several other Premier League clubs are also interested in Bayer, and Chelsea are not currently in the lead.
