According to Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manhã, Liverpool has identified Sporting CP defender Inácio as their top target to strengthen their defense and plan to submit a bid exceeding €30 million soon.
Sporting CP do not rule out a potential deal, although initially they demanded €60 million for Inácio’s release clause, they are now willing to start negotiations at around €45 million.
The player himself is currently on holiday after representing Portugal at the European Championships and is expected to rejoin the team next week. Manchester United was also one of the clubs interested in the 23-year-old center-back but ultimately opted for 18-year-old French player Varane.
Even after Inácio’s potential departure, Sporting CP still have multiple options in the defensive position: Eduardo Quaresma, Diomande, St. Just, Matheus Reis, João Muniz, and the newly signed Devast.
In this transfer window, Sporting CP has already lost Luís Neto (contract expired) and captain Coates, who moved to Nacional de Montevideo for family reasons.
