The Guardian: Ratcliffe prioritises long-term development at Man Utd, no pressure on Ten Hag to finish in the top four

July 25, according to The Guardian, Man Utd’s new owner Ratcliffe is more concerned with the long-term development of the club and does not require Erik ten Hag to finish in the top four in the Premier League next season.

Since taking over Man Utd, Ratcliffe is not demanding quick results from the team, but instead hopes to help the club build a solid and sustainable foundation.

In the transfer market, Man Utd has already successfully signed Jonny Evans and Zirkzee, and the club is hoping to bring in PSG defensive midfielder Ugarte and Bayern full-back Mazraoui to further strengthen the existing squad.

Off the pitch, Ratcliffe has also agreed to invest £50 million to renovate the Carrington training ground, although the renovations are not expected to be completed until next season.

Due to the frequent injuries suffered by Man Utd last season, ten Hag hopes to reduce the number of pre-season games next season to allow the team to have more breathing room. Compared to the eight pre-season games last year, Man Utd has cut the number of pre-season games to six this year.
