On July 23rd, Chelsea announced their squad for their pre-season tour of the United States.
The list doesn’t include players who just finished the European Cup final, such as Palmer and Cucurella. Chalobah was also left out of the list. According to Romano, Chalobah was told by the team that he would not be allowed to go to the United States for pre-season training, meaning his chance of leaving the club in the summer window is increasing rapidly.
Chalobah has been linked with a move to Crystal Palace, West Ham, Fulham, and even Manchester United in recent months. Chalobah has turned down numerous opportunities to leave Stamford Bridge in the last 18 months. Last summer, Nottingham Forest had a £25 million offer for Chalobah rejected, as did Tottenham Hotspur.
After a hamstring injury, Chalobah missed most of last season but later found his way into Mauricio Pochettino’s starting XI in the final stages. Notably, Chalobah was widely praised for his role in Chelsea’s five-game winning streak to end their tumultuous season.
Chalobah’s contract with Chelsea runs until June 2028, and if he is to be released, Chelsea will likely command a significant fee.
