According to British media outlet Talksport, Kevin De Bruyne will not be moving to a Saudi Arabian club this summer.
The media outlet claims that De Bruyne has not yet reached an agreement with Al-Hilal and the deal is currently unlikely to happen. While reports have suggested De Bruyne has agreed personal terms, there is no indication at present that the transfer will be completed.
The media also pointed out that De Bruyne is a target player for Saudi clubs, but Manchester City want a transfer fee of £100 million. De Bruyne’s contract with Manchester City expires next summer, and Saudi clubs have indicated they are willing to wait until next summer for him to join on a free transfer.
Previously, British media outlet the Daily Mail reported that De Bruyne had reached personal terms with Al-Hilal and was about to join the club.
Since joining Manchester City in 2015, De Bruyne has won all the honors, including the Premier League title, FA Cup, League Cup, Champions League, as well as the Premier League assists title and Premier League Player of the Year awards. Coincidentally, his mentor Pep Guardiola’s contract with Manchester City also expires next summer.
In addition, De Bruyne has hinted in previous interviews that he could move to Saudi Arabia. Recently, in an interview with Belgian media, he said: “If someone offers me an astronomical salary, I will accept it for my family.” In other words, he could potentially go to Saudi Arabia for the money.
But at least it won’t happen this summer. Renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano also revealed that Al-Hilal has denied reaching an agreement with De Bruyne. Al-Hilal are looking for a new goalkeeper and hope to sign Ederson from Manchester City, but this will not be easy. De Bruyne and Ederson have both played for Manchester City for 9 years and 7 years respectively, playing key roles under Pep Guardiola.
