On July 21st, Manchester United legend Eric Cantona expressed strong support for the Red Devils’ new owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, stating that the Glazer family had destroyed the club’s winning mentality and that Ratcliffe has the potential to lead the team back to the top.
Cantona said: “I believe that energy is transferable, and right now, Ratcliffe wants to bring back that winning mentality that helps Manchester United achieve greatness. I remember during my time at Man United, we had that energy. The players, coaches, club owners, and staff, we were like a family, we shared that energy among each other.”
Cantona pointed out that this ability disappeared after the Glazers took over: “Since the Glazers took over Manchester United, especially after the departure of legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson, the energy at the club has been lost. With Ratcliffe’s arrival, the club is gradually regaining the energy to return to its peak.”
In recent years, Manchester United’s performance has been lackluster, with their last Premier League title win dating back to the 2012-13 season.
