According to teamtalk, Arsenal have joined the race for Alvarez, with the Gunners set to compete with Chelsea and Atletico for the Argentinian forward.
Since his £14m move to Manchester City in July 2022, Alvarez has proven to be a shrewd signing for the Etihad club. The center-forward has scored 36 goals and provided 18 assists in 103 appearances for City, helping Guardiola’s side win trophies such as the Premier League (twice), Champions League and FA Cup.
Last season, Alvarez scored 19 goals and provided 13 assists in 54 appearances. Despite these impressive numbers, he has been unable to compete with Haaland for the number 9 position at City.
Atletico have been the team most closely linked with Alvarez in recent months. Their manager Simeone sees him as a potential asset for the Atletico front line. With Morata having moved to AC Milan, they are in dire need of a new forward.
It is understood that Arsenal are currently weighing up whether to sign Alvarez or Sporting CP forward Viktor Gyokeres. City are demanding £60m up front plus £17m in add-ons for Alvarez.
