Manchester United’s new defender Raphael Varane recently gave an interview to the club’s official website, where he talked about why he chose Manchester United.
Varane said: “Manchester United is the biggest club in the world, and for me, it’s a dream to play for this club. The fans here are incredible.”
“I also spoke to the manager, Erik ten Hag, and he wants players who are very ambitious. When he puts me on the field, I’m ready to die for this club.”
Varane also revealed that Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand played a key role in the transfer: “About two weeks ago, Rio called me and had a great conversation with me. We talked about Manchester United for about 10 minutes, and he helped me make my decision.”
“Rio is a legend at Manchester United, so for me, it was an honor to speak to him. He was a great defender, a legend, so I’m really honored.”
“He told me about the club, a club with a great history and heritage. When I came here, I need to be ready to fight for this club, because this is the biggest club in the world. So for me, it was a great conversation.”
