Erik ten Hag has spoken of the positive changes at Manchester United in the wake of the INEOS takeover, during an interview with Sky Sports.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s company officially acquired a minority stake in the club for £1.25bn back in February. As part of the full agreement, the Glazer family handed over the running of the club’s football operations to INEOS.
Ten Hag said: “I do think INEOS coming in as co-owners has helped to settle things down. Now you know everyone is here and this is what they think, you can feel the calm and not the waiting anymore. They tell us how it’s going to be, where we are going.”
Ten Hag has been heavily linked with a summer exit from the club, with his contract having only one year left. The Dutchman made 28 appearances for United last season, scoring one goal and registering three assists.
Under Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s long-term plan, INEOS are looking to bring in star players in key positions to help the historic club return to the pinnacle of world football. Significant restructuring has taken place in the club’s football operations under their brief stewardship.
With Dan Ashworth appointed as Director of Football, Omar Berrada as CEO and Jason Wilcox as Technical Director, INEOS has established a solid foundation to collectively work towards achieving Manchester United’s football success.
Manager Erik ten Hag has been handed a new contract this summer after a thorough work review. However, adjustments have been made to his coaching team, with club legend Ruud van Nistelrooy joining the Dutchman’s staff as an assistant coach.
Under the stewardship of INEOS, Manchester United has also been very active in the summer transfer market. They have completed two key signings, bringing in Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna and Lenny Yoro from Lille.
Like several other Premier League clubs, Manchester United are heading to the United States for their pre-season tour ahead of the 2024/25 season. The Dutchman’s side will play three friendlies against the likes of Arsenal, Real Betis and Liverpool on the tour.
