In an interview, van Dijk also stated that he will carefully consider his future: “This summer I will have to carefully consider my situation at Liverpool, and as a member of the national team, I need to recover from the disappointment of the European Championship as soon as possible. We have been through a lot in the past year.”
Liverpool are also open to van Dijk’s departure, although they will not stand in his way if he decides to join the Saudi Pro League. If these negotiations fail, they could return with a renewed pursuit in the winter transfer window.
