After prolonged negotiations, Erik ten Hag has confirmed he will continue as Manchester United manager. Today, Manchester United’s Director of Football John Murtough penned an article on the club website, reflecting on the club’s expectations for the future after extending ten Hag’s contract.
Murtough wrote: “This is my first opportunity to speak to our fans since joining as Director of Football on 1 July and I’m delighted to be here. Alongside Richard Arnold as CEO and Andy O’Boyle as Technical Director, I can assure you that we have all hit the ground running.”
“The first major decision we made this summer was to extend Erik ten Hag’s contract as our first-team manager until June 2026. He is a top manager and I am looking forward to continuing to work with him to help us achieve the standards we all expect.”
“We all know that last season we underperformed in both the Premier League and the Champions League, but winning the FA Cup was a memorable achievement and demonstrated what we are capable of. With a number of exciting additions to our squad and the rebuilding of the stadium underway, we are going to look very different next season. This is still one of the biggest clubs in the world and our ambition is to be back amongst the best. We will be working tirelessly until we achieve that ambition.”
