According to Japanese media reports, Takefusa Kubo responded to the rumors linking him with Liverpool for the first time after playing against his former team Cerezo Osaka with Real Sociedad in a pre-season friendly. Kubo said that all players aspire to play for big clubs.
On July 25th, Real Sociedad played a pre-season friendly against Cerezo Osaka, winning 1-0. Kubo featured in the game and had a decent performance.
For the past few days, Kubo has been linked with Liverpool. Reports suggest that Liverpool are willing to pay €65 million to sign Kubo, potentially replacing Mohamed Salah whose contract expires next summer. Since joining Real Sociedad in the summer of 2022, Kubo has consistently performed well, making it understandable that he’s attracted interest from a club like Liverpool.
Regarding the Liverpool rumors, Kubo responded for the first time, “Playing for a big club, I think that’s normal, including myself.”
Talking about the reported €65 million transfer fee, Kubo stated, “It’s good news for the club. There are various rumors in La Liga, and such a transfer (referring to the transfer fee) would help the club overcome difficulties and continue to grow. Of course, all clubs hope to keep their talented players.”
