August 4, according to the latest news from the British media “Mirror”, Manchester United and Chelsea have both joined the race for Real Madrid’s 16-year-old talent, Joan Martinez. The 16-year-old defender came through the ranks at Levante and officially joined Real Madrid’s youth system in 2023. This summer he joined Real Madrid’s pre-season tour in the USA and made his appearance against Barcelona.
Currently the player plays for Real Madrid’s U19 team, he has only trained with the first team a few times, during which he has faced off against Vinicius Jr on multiple occasions and emerged victorious. However, it is understood that Real Madrid do not currently have plans to promote him to the first team.
He is reportedly a tall centre-back (at 16 years old, 188 cm tall) with a commanding presence. He excels in the air, is dominant, and can comfortably cope with open spaces. He is proactive and can easily defend against forwards, is calm and composed in defence, and also makes a decent contribution in possession.
