July 30, Ahead of Manchester City’s pre-season friendly against Barcelona at 7:00 tomorrow, England forward Jack Grealish spoke at the pre-match press conference alongside manager Pep Guardiola, responding to his feelings about missing out on the Euros.
【Not making the final Euros squad】
Grealish: Honestly, in terms of football, it was probably the hardest thing I’ve ever had to deal with in my career. I was absolutely heartbroken, “I was genuinely gutted, then I was on holiday, every time I switched on my phone or TV it was there.”
I felt like I should have been in England’s squad for Euro 2024. I’m sure every player who missed out will feel the same… I’ve had my ups and downs, but I’m going to use this as motivation for the new season, I’m going to prove some people wrong.
【Manager Pep Guardiola】
I always talk to him, he’s been fantastic with me in the three years I’ve been here – in terms of getting advice from somebody, you couldn’t really ask for better. He’s a master of the game. His advice is something that I would always take on board.
【Inconsistent performance last season】
I don’t want to sit here and make excuses. I feel like I still had a good season. I got injured at the start of the season – the worst leg injury I’ve ever had, it lasted four or five weeks, I then had two groin injuries after that, and there were some off-the-field things.
