According to The Telegraph, Manchester United are close to signing Bayern Munich defender Noussair Mazraoui.
Mazraoui was previously a target for West Ham, with the two clubs agreeing a fee of £14.9 million, but it fell through due to the player’s refusal. The Telegraph says that Mazraoui prefers a move to Manchester United over West Ham.
United are keen to sell Aaron Wan-Bissaka this summer so they can bring in another right-back. Galatasaray were put off by a £20 million asking price from United, but it is believed Wan-Bissaka could now be available for a more reasonable fee that matches Mazraoui’s asking price. West Ham have agreed to pay an initial £12.6 million, plus a further £2.3 million in add-ons.
If West Ham can agree a deal for Wan-Bissaka, it would open the door for United to complete a deal for Mazraoui.
The report claims that United have agreed personal terms with the 26-year-old, who played under Erik ten Hag before joining Bayern in 2022. Meanwhile, United are also heavily interested in Mazraoui’s Bayern teammate, Matthijs de Ligt.
United have already signed Rasmus Hojlund from Lille for £58.8 million and ideally they would like to bring in Michael Keane from Everton, but so far United are unwilling to meet the Toffees’ £75 million valuation of the English defender.
